it is true that the premise and foundation of all major cities are the same— they are port cities where entry and egress are easy, effortless. Montreal had its heyday but when the economic cycle robbed it of its industries, its factories and warehouses became ghost towns and were left in disrepair. This was so until a new set of jet setters—entrepreneurs, creators and artists collaborated with the local authority to resuscitate the City. Now, areas like Old Montreal shows me of what the Powerhouse Arts District of Jersey City can become so long as entrepreneurial artists don’t let up.

in this our time away from home, we are asked to “stir up” ourselves. These were the words of our bartendress/guru, Dany, who experiments with shifts in thinking. Such shifts include how we should perceive our jobs as service-oriented and hence, based and centered on the personal connections with others; of our aware and present selves, the here and now; and in the future, to continue being present to others, i.e. selflessness: adoption. Dany, Dang and Sarah, all wonderful people whom we met in Montreal, reminded us to ask ourselves about what it is that we truly want NOW and going for it without excuses. Don’t believe the hype of the false security of a business plan (a la law practice).

Dany reminded us that once we have mastered our respective jobs, which are our source of daily bread, then we can expand and grow only by taking on new unchartered territory. so to new beginnings, which i have usually marked with tattoos on my back, here is to a new one—warehouse panaderia inc.! (of course, all this is still founded on our deeply rooted need to share with and being of service to others while we still can—time and resource-wise—for nothing is guaranteed.)

What a great weekend with family…thanks Franz for getting us all together for Isabela and Haidee’s joint birthday celebration. Welcome Bacalso family!!!

adding Lyoto Machida, mixed martial arts fighter from Brazil!!!, to the list of men we love. hoping to watch the championship fight…

Newsflash: MACHIDA WON!
Here is another pic of him while training for his last bout! AAAaaaaaw!

An interesting book about Japanese Brazilians, which further complicates the already mixed racial makeup of Brazil!

Filipino veterans who have fought for veteran benefits for over 30 years finally got what they have been clamoring for. The Filipino Veterans provision was included in the recently enacted American Reinvestment Act of 2009. WE THANK OBAMA AND HIS KREW FOR KEEPING THE PROMISE AND FAITH!
We pray that Guantanamo be closed soon as per his directive. The torture that goes on there in violation of the Geneva convention must end. Prisoners are held without any official charges. By 2010, Obama has also promised to bring home U.S. troops in Iraq hereby ending that country’s unjustified occupation.
As gay marriage continues to get a hold in various U.S. states, the federal government, through Congress, must repeal the U.S. Military’s don’t-ask-don’t tell policy that only encourages gays and lesbians in service to a life of lies and hence fostering no accountability.

power comes from wanting to lead and live an honest life…a life of being who you are, there is no choice but to have power exude from you because you have no hidden agendas. You just are who you are. There are no veils, no curtains. There is nothing in front of you. You are just you. -Suze Orman (HRC magaine, Winter 09)

with live saxophone music, great spring weather (break from rainy days), and great beautiful people who emitted nothing but light, “everything”, as per title of the show, “exposed by the light [became] visible”.
